So I just purchased a gopro hero 4 black. All is good until I try to record above 60fps. My playback on my iMac is really choppy. Here are the specs on what I have. 3.2 GHZ I5 8GB RAM Graphics card is NVIDIA GeForce GT 755M 1024 MB. Lately I have had problems importing video from my GoPro, both entire clips and segments of clips. Everything seems to go as usual until I look at the clips in my library. Sometimes they look and perform ok. Sometimes the clip is there, but looks like the attached photo. Nothing show when I try to skim it or attache it to a storyline. When I open the library in finder (package contents) the video file is there and appears not to be corrupted. If I copy the bad files and then move them to another folder and then import them into FCPX everything is fine. Heya Dan, I’ve also been dealing with my own little nightmare regarding GoPro footage today and I thought I’d share my discoveries. The problem I was having is I couldn’t transfer the footage from the card to my hard drive. Every time I tried to transfer the footage it would crash and say the disk was ejected improperly. Then the card would remount but the footage wouldn’t transfer from the card to my hard drive. I tried every possible option including using different USB ports, using a card reader, using the GoPro as a card reader, I even tried with different operating systems and I still was unable to transfer the footage without the disk improperly ejecting before the transfer could be completed. I tried opening the files in Quicktime from the card and then saving to the Desktop. I tried importing from FCPX. I tried drag and drop from card to my hard driving using the Finder. I tried Image Capture app.I even tried zipping the video files on the card and then tried copying the zipped files to my hard drive. Gopro editing software for mac 10.8.5. Video Editing Software. I don´t have the newest Mac OS 10.9. Yet and I need to download GoPro Studio for Mac OS 10.8. Where can I get a GoPro Studio for my System? I need this Software for transfering the videos from the camera to the Mac. Everything I tried was unsuccessful. Then I tried transcoding the footage to pro res 422 using Compressor and saving the transcoded files it to my hard drive from the SD card. I think there’s some problem with GoPro files delivering the package during copy. It seems that transcoding the files to Pro Res 422 from the GoPro’s card to your hard drive using Compressor is the best method. Hope that helps!
